Neutrogena Pore Refining Mattifier - Product Review

When I first saw this skin care product, I pulled out a sample from a beauty magazine. Often, I don't even try these samples but this one caught my eye. When opening the packet, I saw a strange looking, thick, clear gel.

When I applied mattifier to my face, I immediately noticed that not only did it reduce shine, but my pores appeared smaller. Now this was something I was excited about and definitely had a need for. It absorbed the light and "filled" in my pores.

After that first experience, Neutrogena Pore Refining Mattifier hit my shopping list and I purchased it for $12.99 on my next shopping trip.

The packaging is misleading. Inside a large box, is a slim tube containing a mere 0.5 oz of gel. The gel is concentrated and it doesn't take much for a full application, so you decide if it's right for you.

While this is not something that I use every day, I always use it for special occasions or a night out on the town. I quickly learned to put it on after washing my face, and before applying make-up. For extra shiny faces, try testing it with a dab on over your make-up. Try it with no make-up at all!

The best areas to use the gel is in your t-zone and anywhere else your face has a tendency to shine. I also use it on my forehead to help reduce the lines on what I deem "the worst part of my face."

Squeezing the mattifier out of the tube is something of a trick. While air gets into the tube, the gel can pop out at you and end up on the most unusual places -- so it's better to use it before getting dressed.

Bottom line? This product is a good solution for those with enlarged pores, shiny, or oily skin. Since your pores are genetically determined, keeping them clean and "reducing" their appearance with Neutrogena Pore Refining Mattifier is probably a good strategy.
